At Green Visions, We’re Growing More Than Flowers

We’re honored to have been recently featured in an article by Carolyn Sperry, highlighting the work we do here at Green Visions in Rochester’s JOSANA neighborhood. The piece beautifully captured the heart of our mission—to help young adults grow, thrive, and create lasting change in their lives and communities.

At Green Visions, we combine urban flower farming with real-world job training. Each summer, our participants cultivate thousands of flowers—bright dahlias, cheerful zinnias, and towering sunflowers—that make their way to local markets like Wegmans and the Rochester Public Market. But beyond the blooms, we're cultivating confidence, responsibility, and purpose.

Many of our participants face complex challenges, and our approach is simple but powerful: we meet them where they are. Through hands-on experience, financial literacy, résumé building, and life skills development, we help build brighter futures. With the addition of our winter landscaping program, we're now creating opportunities year-round, including certification paths through Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Stories like Daundre Miller’s remind us why we do this work. From participant to manager, from job-seeker to mentor—Daundre, like so many others, has grown with us and now helps others do the same.

Thank you to everyone who supports our journey—and to Carolyn for sharing our story.
